Wordest Ray Felts, of Greensboro and formerly of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2012, with his wife of 62 years by his side. He was a loving husband, father; grandfather and great-grandfather.

Wordest was born on May 27, 1930, in Roanoke Rapids. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1949 and married his high school sweetheart in May of 1949. Wordest attended N.C. State University and graduated in 1957 with a degree in textiles. He and his family moved to Greensboro in 1958, where he began a career with Cone Mills until he retired in 1985 to farm in Gasburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his son, Wordest Cranford Felts.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Myrick Felts, of Gasburg, VA; son, Gregory Boyce Felts, of Greensboro; daughter, Rhonda Jean Felts, of Greensboro; granddaughters, Kristin Felts Weldon, husband Rob, of Greensboro, Kimberly Felts Castros, husband Marcos, of Basel, Switzerland, and Kathryn Elizabeth Felts, of Charlotte; one brother, Jerry Davis, and one sister, Phyllis Davis Matta, husband Al, all of Roanoke Rapids. He felt extremely fortunate to have lived to see two great-grandchildren, Madeline Elizabeth Castro and William Hudson Weldon.

Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 16, at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
