Willie Jean Harvey

Willie Jean Harvey was born on October 18, 1956 to the late Jerry Harvey and Luticia Solomon Harvey of Halifax County, North Carolina. She slipped into eternal rest on June 19, 2020 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

She received her former education through Halifax County Public Schools and graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, NC.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and joined the Colors of Ministry Worship Center of Roanoke Rapids, NC where she remained faithful until her death.

Willie Jean or Jean as she was called by her family and friends was a faithful and dedicated worker for many years until her health failed. Willie Jean loved basketball and played during her school years. Her pastime was watching her favorite team, the Tarheels play. She was affectionately known to have a good heart and a welcoming spirit. She loved and received many in her home and was often referred to as a Mother to many.

In addition to her parents, Willie Jean was united in Holy Matrimony to her high school sweetheart Arthur Harris, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was later united in Holy Matrimony to Damone Price, who also preceded her in death; her sister Helena Harvey Williams and brother Claude Harvey Sr.

The loved ones remaining to treasure her precious memories from her first union, her son Arthur Harris, Jr.; a very special and long term companion Vance Jones along with their five children, a devoted daughter, Carmelita Jones of Roanoke Rapids, NC; daughter Autumn Harveyof Whitsett, NC ; her sons, Travis Jones, Jermaine Jones and Cordell Jones all of the home; seven grandchildren, Arthur Harris III, Reginald Harris , Mikenzie Harris, Samara Jones, Salea Jones, Na’sir Ratliff and Syn’Sir Coley; Six brothers, James Harvey (Phil Mae), William Harvey and Ricky Harvey (Timica) all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Jeremiah Harvey of Rocky Mount, NC, Herbert Harvey (Annette) of Garysburg, NC and Ray Harvey (Sonia) of New Berga, NY; four sisters, Stella Corley of Littleton, NC, Helen Taylor (Andrew) of Garysburg, NC, Cynthia Harvey and Cassandra Harvey all of Roanoke Rapids, NC., , one uncle, Wilson Harvey of Enfield, NC; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends.

The memorial service for Mrs. Harvey will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
