William Lloyd Yogi Melvin, 86, died in Ashland, KY Friday, March 4, 2016.

Mr. Melvin was born in Halifax County, March 9, 1929, to the late George Thompson Melvin, Sr. and Pearl Lloyd Melvin. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force and later was employed with GE. In addition to his parents, Mr. Melvin was preceded in death by his brother, George Melvin, Jr.

Surviving are his nephews, George Melvin III and wife, Debbie, of Ashland, KY and David Scott Melvin of Durbin, KY; his nieces, Peggy Gottlieb of Beverly Hills, CA and Sharon Manning of Cannonsburg, KY. Also surviving are a host of great nieces and nephews.

Rev. Jimmy King will conduct funeral services Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
