Waymon H Byrd

Waymon Herbert Byrd, 90 of Marshall Street, Roanoke Rapids passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Byrd was born October 31, 1925 in Harnett County to the late Josiah Herbert Byrd and Nancy Elizabeth Byrd Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his son: Jerome Byrd; his brothers: Douglas, Murchison and Otis Byrd; his sisters: Vara Lee, Henrietta and Nina Ruth.

Waymon was a member of Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a good man, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.He was in the U.S. Army during WWII where he served in Italy.

He is survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years: Betty Byrd of the home; his daughter: Teresa Byrd Harris of Roanoke Rapids; his granddaughters: Michelle Harris and Wendy Harris May; his great-grandchildren: Taylor Scott Harris and Alie May and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. D.A. Leonard.Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 1:00 P.M. at the church and other times at the home.
