Vivian Alexis Smith Nelson

Vivian Alexis Smith Nelson, 65, of Roanoke Rapids died Saturday November 3, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Nelson was born May 1, 1947 in Halifax County to the late Arthur Johnson and Ethel Johnson Smith. She was also preceded in death by her son Marshall Bruce Balmer.

Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, daughter-in-law, and good friend.

Vivian is survived by her husband Marvin Douglas Nelson of the home. Her dear and favorite mother-in-law, Mary K. Brewer; Cousin, Michael Ogburn and wife Sandy of Rocky Mount; Cousin, Stacey Ezell of Roanoke Rapids; and a special nephew Michael D. Nelson. Vivian is also survived by her loving dog, Kelly.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service conducted by Rev. Aaron Pendley. Interment will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 prior to the service.
