Virginia Mae Robertson Griffin

Virginia Mae Robertson Griffin, 69, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Griffin was born August 13, 1945 in Warren County to the late Nathaniel Jordan Robertson and Alice Mae Whitby Robertson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Griffin was of the Baptist faith and served as president of the Gideon Auxillary. She aslo served as choir director and loved singing in the choir and in a singing group. She was an avid volunteer in the community and in schools. She loved camping, sewing, quilting, and helping others. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Margaret Seuis. Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband Calvin of the home; her children Robin Edwards and husband Ricky; Sallie Smiley and husband H.A. all of Littleton; Nat West and wife Lisa of North Wilkesboro; Tammy Evans and husband Arthur of Vaughan; and Calvin Griffin and Donna of Gloucester, Va. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her brother Macon Robertson and wife Vonnete of Macon; and several nieces. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Enterprise Baptist Church, 404 Enterprise Rd. Littleton, NC 27850 with Rev. Rob Evans and Dr. Dennis Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery 3902 Hwy. 158 Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service and all other times at the home.
