Virgil Laster Allen

Virgil Laster Allen, 84, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Allen was born in Halifax County, January 1, 1930, to the late Lee Allen and Dora Love Allen. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He loved to visit the elderly and those in need of friendship, and enjoyed helping others..

Surviving is his wife, Deanie Allen; children, Kim Allen Kidd, Keith Allen, and Jean Allen Landen, all of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Dorothy Allen Waters of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Alan Kidd, Blake Danielle Kidd, Jason Allen Landen and Jessica L. Watts; great-grandchilden, Nathan Watts and Bristol Faith Landen. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 6-8 pm, and all other times at his daughter, Kim Kidds, home. Rev. Randy Martin will conduct funeral services at the funeral home, Monday, March 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
