Tommy Ray Norris, Sr.

Tommy Ray “Big Tom” Norris, Sr., 68, died at his home in Roanoke Rapids surrounded by his family Thursday, February 11, 2021.

Big Tom was born, December 29, 1952, in Halifax County, NC, son to the late Rayshell and Edna Mae Lynch Norris. He was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, class of 1971 and was a Foreman with Halifax Paperboard, Roanoke Rapids, NC for over 25 years.

Big Tom was a loving dad and “Papa”,  and was hard- working and self-sacrificing. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, loved cutting grass, working with wood, and spending time with his family. Also, Big Tom was a lifelong member of the NRA.

Surviving are his sons, Tommy Ray “Lil Tom” Norris, Jr. and wife, Monica and Randy Blake “Little Fella” Norris; grandchildren, Haley Duncan, Riley Norris and Seth Norris; daughter-in-law, Jessica Norris and Dennis Key all of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Bobby Norris and wife, Sherri of Mobile, AL;  uncle, Clifton Riggan; ex-wife, Marie Lowe, of Gaston. Also surviving are a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will have a service to remember Big Tom’s life at a later date.
