Thomas "Tommie" Earl Smith Sr

Thomas Tommie Earl Smith, Sr., 82, of Littleton died Monday, December 02, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born June 27, 1931 in Halifax County to the late Ernest W. and Mattie Hudson Smith. Mr. Smith was the owner and operator of his fathers business E.W. Smith Inc. and Smith Marina. Mr. Smith later retired from the North Carolina Department of Labor as an OSHA consultant. Mr. Smith was active with prison ministries and volunteered at Warren Correctional Institute and at Caledonia Prison. In addition to his parents Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his sister Ernestine Smith Stephenson.

Mr. Smith is survived by his son Tommie Smith, Jr. of Nags Head; his daughters, Gloria Smith of Asheville, NC and Lisa Braswell of Manteo, NC; and the mother of his children Dorothy M. Smith.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
