Thelma May Mantei Rumford, 92, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Rumford was born on September 3, 1934 in Wenatchee, WA, the daughter of the late Agnes May Ray and Jacob Mantei and was one of 16 children.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Laurence E. Rumford, her daughter Sandra Mabry and husband Ron of Hawaii, her two sons: Neil J. Rumford and his wife Betsy, of Roanoke Rapids, and Larry Rumford and his wife Mary of Hawaii. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Thelma was an exceptional woman, traveled the world with her husband and children during his Army days and was loved by all she met.
