Thelma Parks Chestnut of 101 King Ct. Kill Devil Hills, NC and formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday September 29th at The Outer Banks Hospital.

Thelma was born June 12th, 1925 in Northampton County to the late Frank and Minnie Tidwell Parks. She was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her. Thelma was also preceded in death by her husband Donald Chestnut, her sisters; Lindy Parks, Mildred Parks, Helen Davis, and her brother Freddie Lewis Parks.

Thelma is survived by her daughter; Deborah Kay Chestnut Slovenski of Kill Devil Hills, her brothers; Eugene Parks and wife Virgie of Roanoke Rapids, Herman Parks and wife Louise of Berkley Springs, WV, Harry Parks and wife Elaine of Baltimore, MD, and Frank Parks, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, and her sister Virginia Trueblood of Oxnard, Ca. Thelma is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Rick Gaskins.
