Texie B. Wood

Texie Ruth Bryant Wood, 98, formerly of Jefferson Street in Roanoke Rapids, died June 26, 2019 at Hampton Manor in Gaston.

Mrs. Wood was born in Roanoke Rapids on November 19, 1920, the daughter of William Gaston Bryant and Jerusha Waters Bryant.  She was a homemaker that enjoyed crocheting, gardening and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her grandson and his wife, Jimmy and Shelia Wood; great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole House, Courtney Gray Wood and Hayley Cheryl Wood; great-great grandchildren, Mikayla Chestnut, Emily Chestnut and Josh Chestnut; niece and nephew, Gary Ballard and Barbara Ballard; as well as other extended family.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Hugh Wood; a son, Jimmy E. Wood, Sr.; a grand-daughter, Tammy Lynn Wood; a sister, Hazel Bryant Ballard; and a brother-in-law, Joe Ballard.

The funeral service for Mrs. Texie Bryant Wood will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 1, 2019 from the graveside at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, with Pastor Ricky Jordan presiding.  Friends may visit with the family following the service.
