Shirley Jean Martin Blanton

Shirley Jean Martin Blanton, 71, of Macon Price Road, Garysburg passed away Sunday, February 14, 20-16 at her home.

Shirley was born July 26, 1944 in Halifax County to the late James Harvey Martin and Eula Blanche Little Martin.She was also preceded in death by her husband: Robert Daniel Blanton, Jr.

Shirley Blanton was a caregiver, and spent her life taking care of her loved ones when they needed her.She loved cooking and gardening.Mrs. Blanton loved spending time with her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was truly the best mom, the best grandmother and definitely the best Gi-Gi in the whole world.She will be truly missed by each heart she has ever touched.

Shirley is survived by her son: Richard Johnson of Clayton; her grandchildren: Richard Johnson, III, Christiana Johnson, Jacob Johnson and Hannah Faith Johnson; her great-grandchildren: Connor Dupuis and Bubba Johnson.In addition to her immediate family, she also leaves her sister-in-law, Betty Blanton (caregiver) and her family.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Roy Porter officiating.The family will receive friends from 12:00 1:00 prior to the service..
