Mrs. Shirley Bright Bradley, 92
Shirley Maxine Bright was born on February 14, 1930, in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. to John David and Golda Armstrong Bright. She graduated from William R. Davie High School as Valedictorian of her class and earned an Associate Degree from Chowan College where she met her husband-to-be, Marvin Ryland Bradley, Jr. Mrs. Bradley resided in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and was an active member of Rosemary Baptist Church. She cherished her role as a full-time homemaker. Mr. and Mrs. Bradley and their two young sons, M.R. and Neal, later relocated to Burlington, N.C., in 1968. In addition to lovingly taking care of her family, Mrs. Bradley was very involved with her churchwork at Grove Park Baptist Church, especially through her leadership in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) as well as the Widows Support Group.
Mrs. Bradley was called home by her Heavenly Father on April 18, 2022, at the age of 92. She is survived by her sons, M.R. Bradley III (Carol), Neal R. Bradley (Michelle), brother John D. Bright, Jr. (Sandy), grandchildren Lyndsay Bradley Kerr (Grant), Kathryn Bradley Beck (Tim), Leanne Bradley White (Jordan), Cole Bradley, her nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Crestview Memorial Cemetery located in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., at 4:00 PM on August 27, 2022. In memory of Mrs. Bradley, the family requests that you take a moment to reminisce upon your fond memories of her, especially her famous Angel Food cakes. She was a special gift from God who put others first and was always willing to make sacrifices for those she loved.
