Sheila Nowell Hardee

Sheila Nowell Cooke Hardee, 76 of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.  Mrs. Hardee was born in Halifax County on November 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Lala Virginia Jolly and Thomas Eugene Nowell.  She was also preceded in death by her brother David Nowell.

Sheila was a long time employee of Ralph’s BBQ in Roanoke Rapids, prior to retirement.

Surviving include her long time companion Rufus Williams; son Stacy Lee Cooke, her sisters:  Joyce Yarborough and Rose Marie Wilson; her brother Greg Nowell; her grandson Dylan Lee Cooke; her nieces Jenny Nowell Lee, Shannon Shelton, and Erica Nowell; her nephews:  Paul Daniel, Brandon Wilson, and Brooks Wilson; and a host of extended family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Wayne Marshall officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.  Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
