Ruth Marie Holcomb

Ruth Marie Holcomb, 78, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Ruth was born in Greenbriar County, West Virginia, October 5, 1934 to the late Othor Chapman Massie and Arlena W. Ramsey Massie. She was a waitress for most of her life, working at Lakewood Truckstop, Howard Johnsons, and Halifax Regional Medical Center. When she wasnt working she enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, Paul Holcomb and wife, Windy, Sterling Holcomb and wife, Connie, Bobby Holcomb and wife, Ruby, Ricky Holcomb and wife Carolyn, all of Roanoke Rapids; two daughters, Kay Richmond and husband, Tracy Pierce of Roanoke Rapids, and Karen DePriest of Covington, Virginia; seven sisters, Edith Crosier, Irene ONeil, Ethel Jan VanBuren, Dorothy Tucker, Lulu Belle Wykle, Linda Smith, and Katie Burnette; grandchildren, Jerry Holcomb, Erica Hedgepeth, Melanie Kello, Bobbie Bishop, Paul Holcomb, Jr., Sterling Holcomb, Jr., Bobbie Gail Holcomb, Ricky Holcomb, Jr., Bobby Holcomb, Brandon Holcomb, Ricky Richmond, Jonathon Richmond, Samantha Pierce, Buster Thompson, Jr., Kay Taylor, Nicki Thompson, and Brian Massie, and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two special friends, Carolyn Red Boone, and Tony Clements.

The family will receive friends and celebrate Ruths life, Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6:00-8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
