Roy Allen Spence

Roy Allen Spence, 70, of 509 Lawrenceville Rd. Gaston, NC, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.

Mr. Spence was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence M. and Dora Connor Spence; brothers: Maynard Spence, Hugh Spence, and Clarence Spence; sisters: Pauline Mosely and Roberta Davis.

He is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Claudie E. Spence; son: Dale Spence and wife Mary of Pleasant Hill, NC.; daughters: Tissy Spence Tanner and Misty Spence both of Gaston, NC.; sisters: Sarah S. Sewell of Roanoke Rapids and Janie S. Walters and husband J.D. of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren: Allen, Timothy, and James Spence, Adam Spence Clary and Amanda Clary.

Graveside services will be held 2 pm, Monday, August 31, 2009 in the Spence Family Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Butcher officiating.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 7 -9 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
