Robert Garfield Seevers

Robert Garfield Seevers “Bob” [82], of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born on September 21, 1941, in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Helen Seevers, brothers Gary and Michael “Mike” Seevers, and sister, Sue Tobin.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years (April 20, 1968), Nancy Lorraine Seevers, son Travis (Casey) Seevers of Morganton, NC, grandchildren Robert Wesley Seevers and Joseph MacRae Seevers of Morganton, and his brother Glenn (Kathy) Seevers of Cleveland, Ohio.

Bob graduated from Kent State University and Taylor University, where he attended on a football scholarship.  After graduation, Bob was known for his work in the Human Resources Department at Champion and International Paper Companies.  He served on the North Carolina Governor’s Labor Relations Board, Halifax Memorial Hospital Board and numerous other boards throughout his career.

After retirement, Bob continued to have a passion for watching football, traveling with his family, and frequently attending men's breakfasts at First United Methodist Church Roanoke Rapids before it closed. He visited New Hope Methodist Church before his health declined. Bob was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness, humor, and character touched many lives.

The family will have a visitation on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremations from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Hockaday Chapel. Pastor Keith Sexton will be presiding.

The interment will be private.
