Robert Filmore Dowtin

Robert Filmore Dowtin, 95 of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday January 17, 2026. Robert was born on April 4, 1930, in Northampton County. He was preceded in death by his parents Filmore and Carrie Dowtin, brothers John Thomas Dowtin, George Lee Dowtin, Clentis Dowtin, Andrew Dowtin, sisters Clara Eugene Williams, Edith Mae Dowtin, Hattie Pearl Dowtin, Pattie Lou Dowtin, Dolly Ann Smith, Mary Ellen Ponton, Rebecca Dowtin, Maggie Oliver.

He is survived by his son’s Danny Dowtin, Robert Ellary Dowtin, daughter’s Sheryl Moody, Denise Dowtin, Debra Dowtin, Sandra Oberton, sister Minnie Pearl Garris, 8 grandchildren, host of great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church were he faithfully served as a greeter and usher. Robert loved his family and church family, reading his bible, helping people and fishing.

The family is in the process of planning a memorial service.
