Rita Knight

Rita Sanford Knight, 71, gained her heavenly wings on Monday, October 11, 2021.

Rita was born in Mississippi to the late Billy Sanford and Gladys Hinson Sanford. Rita was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Knight; her sister, Carolyn Davis; her brothers, Rayborn and Raymond Sanford.

Rita lived in Mississippi until she was a teenager and then moved to Florida, where she lived until 2001 when she moved to Roanoke Rapids to be near her grandson. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved taking care of her family and her home. Rita loved Babies and children. Rita loved to dance especially in the kitchen and going to the beach. She was Tee’s sunshine and will be greatly missed.

Rita is survived by her children, Teresa Johnson and her husband Ed and Kenneth Knight both of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren, Braxton Johnson of Roanoke Rapids and Bre-Anna Knight of LaBelle, FL; her sister, Marilyn Tucker; several nieces and nephews and one special niece, her crazy Lisa.

Arrangements are being handled by Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
