Richard Montgomery Floyd

Mr. Richard Montgomery Floyd, 78, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Signature Healthcare in Roanoke Rapids.

Born July 22, 1942 in Halifax County, he was a son of Early Mae and Bolinnia Cannon Floyd.  His parents, and sisters Linda and Ann, preceded him in death.

Mr. Floyd worked for both JP Stevens and The Bibb Company as a fixer.  After retiring, he was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Citizens on Patrol.  He served his community as a member of the Rheasville Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Taylor Floyd; son, Brian Floyd; daughter, Pam Floyd; brother, “Cotton” Floyd; sister, Mary Dunlow; and two grandchildren.

The service for Mr. Richard Floyd will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 7, 2021 from the graveside at Cedarwood Cemetery, with Pastor Tony Smith presiding.  Friends may greet the family following the service.
