Rhoda Lee Smiley Joyner

Rhoda Lee Smiley Joyner, 87 of Harris Street died Friday, October 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Rhoda was born October 18, 1927 in Warren County to the late George W. Smiley, Sr. and Guel Pylant Smiley.She was also preceded in death by her husband: Charlie W. Joyner, Jr.; her son: Anthony Tony Baker Joyner; her sisters: Seretha Leutender, Mary Strickland, Ida Kittrell and Shirley Wall; her brother: George Smiley.

She was a very loving person who always took care of others and was a granny to everyone.You could always get a good meal at grannys house.

She is survived by her daughters: Edna Newton and her husband Rufus, Betsy Peterson and her husband Nat, Peggy Fajna, Edith Byl and her husband Jim and Cathy Allen and her husband Nelson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Tony Smith and Rev. Richard Newton officiating.Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the funeral home and other times at the home, 531 Harris Street..
