Reuben Wendell Edwards

Reuben Wendell Edwards, 64, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Wendell was born November 11, 1956 in Halifax County to Charles Emory Edwards and Amelia Harris Edwards. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Emory Edwards and his sister, Sherree Wirtanen.

Wendell graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1974 and also graduated from N.C. State University in 1979. He was a Mechanical Engineer and was an energy consultant with Pepco Energy. Wendell was a member Grove Avenue Baptist Church in Richmond, VA.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Melinda C. Edwards of Richmond, VA; his mother, Amelia Harris Edwards of Roanoke Rapids; his son, Dylan C. Edwards of Richmond, VA; his brother, Robbin K. Edwards of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Shonda E. Dixon and her husband, Jimmy; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Wendell’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Matthew Smith officiating.
