Rebecca Strickland Wilson

Rebecca Strickland Wilson, 90, formerly of 1010 Drake St. and 72 Faison Dr., died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Signature Healthcare of Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Wilson was born March 24, 1924 in Madison County, NC to the late Lillie Yates and James Hilliard Strickland.Mrs. Wilson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.She was always there for her family and anyone who needed her.She loved cooking, baking, flowers, and quilting.No matter how hard she worked she always had time to give to her family.Mrs. Wilson also attended Chockoyotte Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Woodrow Wilson, Sr.; her brothers, Thomas, Claude, and Winford Strickland; and her granddaughter Sherri Pearson Rice.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son Thomas Wilson and wife Velara; her daughter Linda Mabrey and husband Stanley all of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren Tim Pearson; Hubert Vick; Michael Vick; Amy Smith; Brent Mabrey; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Vick; Brian Vick; Alyssa Vick; Dylan Vick; Matthew Smith; Amanda Smith; Makayla Mabrey; Brianna Mabrey; and her great-great-grandchild Carly Renee` Vick.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating.Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.The family will receive friends Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and all other times at the home of her daughter..
