Ray Ervin Bayse

Ray Ervin Bayse, 55, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away November 8, 2023, at ECU Health North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  He was the son of Carolyn Wilder Bayse and the late Douglas Dwight Bayse, Sr. he is also preceded in death by his daughter Sara Schatzberg.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Church in Emporia, VA.

Ray was a graduate of Greensville County High School and played football there.  He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins.

Ray was a loving Father, son, brother, uncle, and the best Papa Ray.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his fiancé Sherlene Wilson of Roanoke Rapids; his sons Timmy Manly of Wilmington, NC, Michael Wilson Jr. (Jessica) of Prince George, VA, and Steven Wilson (Ciara) of Roanoke Rapids; his brother Douglas Dwight Bayse, Jr. (Tina) of Ohio; Sister Jennifer Peyatt (Hance) of Rocky Mount, NC; his nieces Jessica Poindexter, Kristy Taylor, Lela Williams, and Magen Hodges; his nephew Wyatt Bradley; along with eight grandchildren and six great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Roanoke Rapids Lake Day Park, 100 Oakwood Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 with Pastor Lin Robinson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service who is serving the family.
