Rachel Hodges Cobb

Rachel Hodges Cobb, 90, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Carolina Rest Home.

Rachel was born December 14, 1928 in Wayne County to the late Rev. Jerome Hodges, Sr. and Bessie Kirkland Hodges of Rocky Mount. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alex Millard Cobb and her two sisters and three brothers.

Rachel was the former owner of Richie’s Hallmark in Roanoke Rapids. She helped Millard in their farming, keeping the books, and cooking for their help. She loved to mow grass and planting her flowers. Her yard was her pride and joy. Rachel played her organ or church piano for many years at church services and funerals. She loved her family and her pets, Buckwheat, Bess and Angel.

She is survived by her son, Richard “Ricky” Cobb and his wife Jean H. Cobb; her granddaughter, Megan Cobb; her sisters-in-law, Marie Thomason of Roanoke Rapids and Peggy Hodges of Fayetteville.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 22, 2019 at Crestview Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Barry Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at 2847 Hwy 48, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
