Portia Faye Hux Shaw

Portia Faye Hux Shaw, 67, of Harris St. died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Shaw was born August 21, 1945 in Halifax County to the late Haywood James Hux and Frances Gertrude Gurganus Hux.She was also preceded in death by infant brother: Steve Hux; her brothers: James Alton Hux and his wife Mary Elizabeth Hux; her son-in-law: John H. Shelton.

Mrs. Shaw dearly loved being a member of Roanoke Rapids Church of God .She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was always there to help others.Mrs. Shaw loved flowers and had a green thumb, she could make anything grow.She was a fabulous cook and you never left her house hungry.

She is survived by her husband: William Wayne Shaw of the home; her son: Freddie W. Shaw of Roanoke Rapids, her daughter: Tammie Shaw Shelton of Roanoke Rapids; two brothers: Curtis Bradford Hux and his wife Sheila and Arnold Ray Hux and his wife Ginger all of Roanoke Rapids; two grandchildren: Elizabeth Faye Shelton and Shellie Danilie Nelson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Roanoke Rapids Church of God with Pastor Michael Mooneyham officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be her son, Freddie W. Shaw, her nephew Tim Hux, Tim Blanchard, Russell Evans, Bubba Saunders and James Hawkins.The family will receive friends from 7:00 8:30 P.M. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home.
