Phillip Gordon Allen

Phillip Gordon Allen, 56, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Allen was born June 17, 1957 in Halifax County to the late John David Allen and Erline Gums Allen. Mr. Allen was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. His son and grandchildren were the center of his life. He loved family gatherings, loved people and he never met a stranger. Mr. Allen had many friends that he always tried to stay in contact with even through his sickness. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ruby and Daisy Gums; and his paternal grandmother, Edith Shaw Allen.

Mr. Allen is survived by his son Charles Allen; his grandchildren , Jasmine and Chase Allen; his brother, Nelson Allen and wife Cathy; three sisters, Becky Brake, Mona Daniels and husband John all of Roanoke Rapids, and Bonita Allen of Gainesville, Georgia. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Wayne Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 8:30 Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the funeral home and all other times at 269 Fairlane Dr..
