Charles Raven “Peter” Bryant, 86, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Vidant North Hospital.
A native of Northampton County, Peter was born November 6, 1934, the son of Charlie Purvis Bryant and Maggie Lee Birdsong Bryant, both whom preceded him in death.
Peter served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was a jokester; and also loved “piddling” with things. He was an inventor ahead of his time, creating such items as devices to make putting socks on and buttoning shirts easier for folks with limited ability to do such things. He loved old westerns such as Gunsmoke and The Rifleman, as well as old school cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, and Foghorn Leghorn.
He worked for a number of years with Serv-O-Mation; then as a driver for Halifax Linen before he retired.
Peter is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emily Camp Bryant; daughter, Sheila Hollowell; granddaughters, Christie Story and Tanya Hollowell; great-granddaughter, Kay Lee Story; and good friend, Frank Floyd.
Mr. Bryant will be cremated; any services will be private.
Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
