Peggy Jane Dickens, 68, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Peggy was born in Halifax County October 13, 1943 to the late Ned Jones Dickens and Mable Cullom Dickens. She was the owner and operator of M&M Grill in Littleton. She was a friendly woman that acted as though she never had met a stranger. She loved her friends and family with all her heart. She was a very outspoken person, and loved to talk. She brought a room to life, full of jokes and laughter; there was never a dull moment when she was around. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Howard Inscoe.

Surviving is one son, Lathan Todd Connor of Valentines, VA; two daughters Cheryl Ryder, and husband Michael of Littleton, and Rhonda Ray Yarboro of Roanoke Rapids; one brother, Samuel P. Dickens, and wife Christine of Littleton and one sister, Deborah D. Inscoe of Aurelian Srpings; five grandchildren, Kristopher Cabiness , and wife Amanda Marti, Jody Cabiness, and wife Rebecca, Colby Ryder, Cameron & Jarrett Yarboro and one great- grandchild, Alyssa Kampe. Also surviving is a special aunt, Anna Wayne Tritt; two nephews, Paul Dickens and James Inscoe; one niece, Sarah Dickens and two special friends who were like daughters, Tonya Aycock and Caren Dickens.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Monday, January 9th from 7-9 pm.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 10th at Ebenezer United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The service will be conducted by Pastor Steve Formo and Rev. Timothy Edwards.
