Paul Melvin Vincent, 79 of Willow Street, Roanoke Rapids, Entered the Gates of Heaven and his Eternal Destination on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Vincent was born in Halifax County on October 2, 1937 to the late Dewey Clayton Vincent and Lillie Bell Coburn Vincent.He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Earline, Evelyn and Louise Vincent, Carolyn Robbins; his brothers, Elvin and Dewey C. Vincent, Jr.

He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He loved his church and was a deacon in all the churches that he belonged.He was a great soul winner. Melvin loved cooking and eating fried chicken, loved hunting quail and squirrels, then cooking and eating them. He served twenty-four years as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard where he was a cook.Melvin loved his family and playing with his grandchildren, playing his guitar. He retired from Coca Cola after thirty-four years as a service technician.

Melvin is survived by his wife of forty-seven years Nellie Vincent of the home; his son, Keith Vincent and wife Amy; his grandchildren, Tyler Garner, Brittany Vincent and Aliyah Hux; his sister, Glenda Woodruff and husband Thurman; his niece, Melinda Waterman; his nephews, Mike Clark and wife Loretta and Robbie Bobbins and wife Stephanie; his great niece and nephew, Mike Clark, Jr. all of Roanoke Rapids and Lindy Clark of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Marshall officiating.Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.The family will receive friends from 7:00 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home..
