Paul Cullen Shearin, 90, of Littleton passed away Tuesday, February 19th, 2013 at his home.
Paul was born April 28, 1922 in Warren County to the late William Henry and Lula Harris Shearin. Paul worked for 17 years with J.P. Stevens Company. He also raised chickens for Perdue for 22 years and was once recognized as the number one poultry producer and he received several other awards. He was the owner-operator of Shearins Cash & Carry, operator of Salmons Landing Gas & Grill, Grannys Caf in Littleton, and Eatons Ferry Grocery, and along with his wife ran a booth at Lake Gaston Flea Market for nine years. He was a member and deacon of Bethlehem Christian Church and was loved by all and affectionately known as Papa Shearin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mae Harris of Vaughan, Lora Shearin Gray of Littleton, Ruth Shearin Riggan of Roanoke Rapids; his brothers, Andrew Shearin of Norfolk and Howard Shearin of Roanoke Rapids; his granddaughter, Christal Elizabeth Chambliss; his daughter-in-law, Beverly Barber Shearin; his mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Ruby Jenkins.
Mr. Shearin is survived by his wife, Eula Jenkins Shearin; his son, Jeffrey Cullen Shearin and wife, Terry, of Littleton , and his children: Tiffany Shearin, Jessica Stroud, Kelly Shearin, Lee Ann Shearin, and step-daughter, Tina Princiotta; his daughters: Sybil Shearin Chambliss and husband, Charles, of Roanoke Rapids and children, Chris Chambliss and wife, Vanessa, Christi Pittard and husband, Jonathan, and Caren Godfrey and husband , Tavis; Beverly Allen and husband, James, of Littleton, and children, Amy Cooke and husband, Al Cooke, Jr., and Jay Allen and wife, Kay; Paula Livingston and husband, James, of Littleton, and children: April Lassiter and husband, John, Paul Bowman, Ashley Clark, Kelly Wrenn and husband, Buddy, and Jamie Livingston and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, February 22, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. conducted by Gary Ogburn, Minister. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 12 1:30 P.M..
