Paul Melvin

June 18, 1945 — July 26, 2024

Paul Brinkley Melvin, 79, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 in ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.   Mr. Melvin was born in Franklin, VA, on June 18, 1945, the son of the late Maude Johnson and Brinkley Melvin and was the widower of the late Marcella Locust Melvin.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Joyce Edwards.

Surviving include his daughter Tammy Marie Deloatch (Kenny), his son Michael Melvin (Cheryl), his brother Marvin Melvin (Marie), his Brother-in-law W.D. Edwards, his niece Donna Wheeler, his grandchildren:  Marcella Marie McKeel (Zack), Paula Danielle Short (Ryan), Jared Brinkley Melvin (Bethany) and Dusty Barnes and his great grandchildren: Kinleigh McKeel, Jaxon McKeel, Kamdyn McKeel, Mary Kathryn Short, Miles Short and Miley Melvin to be born in January 2025.

A Funeral Service will be held  at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in Valley Community Church with Rev. David Schmaltz officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 11:00 AM.  They will also visit with friends following the service.   A Family Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at Cedarwood Cemetery.   Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.  Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service is serving the Melvin family during this time.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Valley Community Church for Nepal trip.
