Otho Gray “O.G.” Smith, 72, passed away on April 18, 2020 in his home. Mr. Smith was born on March 26, 1948 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Margaret Lee Strickland and Otho Bunn “Toby” Smith. He served our country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife Connie Dickens Smith of the home, his daughters Jacqueline Michelle Liles of Wilson and Margaret Grace Guerra of Spring Hope; his sisters:  Susan Ann Pierce of Rocky Mount and Barbara Jean Powell and husband Julian of Nashville; his brothers:  Jack Douglas Smith and wife Susie of Nashville and Johnny Lancaster of Rocky Mount; his sister-in-law’s Jeanie Stegall and husband Marvin of Roanoke Rapids and Pamela Warren of Gaston; his grandchildren:  Alyshia Mooring, Colton Ward, Cameron “Cody” Guerra, Damian Guerra, and Ashley Newton; his great grandchildren:  Brandon Evans, Jr., Adriannah Newton, Jerimiah Evans, Kevin Evans, and Abigail Holloman; and his grandson-in-law Brandon Evans, Sr.

He is preceded in death by brother Marvin Lee Smith, and his stepchildren Timmy Wayne Newton, Sr. and Kimberly Ann Newton.

A Private service will be held in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Peter Trzinski officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service of Roanoke Rapids.
