Norman Leslie Brake, Jr.

Norman Leslie Brake, Jr., age 75, of Henrico, NC, died August 27, 2022 at ECU Health in Greenville, NC.

Norman was born in October of 1946 to Elsie Rhome and Norman Brake, Sr. in Halifax County, NC. A graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, Mr. Brake went on to work as a plant supervisor in the textile industry.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Norman “Bo” Brake, III and wife, Tracey; a daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Spence and husband, Jimmy; a sister, Norma Jo Peoples; grandchildren Christopher Spence and wife Allison, Courtney Brake Lynch and husband Kaleb, Katie Brake Harris and husband Kyle; great-grandchild Mallorie Grace Spence; special friend, Peggy Norman, whom he loved spending time with; and “Lucy” his beloved pet companion.

Norman was an avid fisherman, loved to bowl and play cornhole with friends and family. He loved living on the lake and enjoying the water.

The funeral service for Mr. Brake will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Wayne Marshall officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 2:00-2:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to the “V” Foundation for Cancer Research, www.v.org .
