Nita Mae Spence

Nita Mae Spence, 83, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her residence in Colonial Heights.

Nita was born December 10, 1931 in Northampton County to the late Wayland Bass and Lena Matthews Bass. In addition to her parents, Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Spence; brothers, David and Herman Bass; sister, Lily Mae Paul and granddaughter, Christy Michelle Spence.

Surviving are her sons, David E. Spence and wife Judy, of Chester, VA, Jerry Spence and wife, Tammie, of Colonial Heights; brother, James Bass and wife, Barbara, of Richmond; sister, Maggie Turner of Roanoke Rapids and a special friend of the family whom she thought the world, Roy Bacon. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Rev. Michael Little will conduct a graveside service at Crestview Memorial Cemetery Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service the same day prior to the graveside service beginning at 12:00 pm.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Encompass Hospice: 1030 Bon Air Rd. Richmond, VA 23225.
