Nellie Weaver Joyner, 89, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Nellie was born May 10, 1923 in Nash, County, to the late Bennie Weaver and Annie Watkins Weaver. She was an instructor and designer for Burlington Mills Industries. She loved dancing, which was including everything from clogging to ball room dance. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Joyner; her sister, Elsie Booth; three brothers, Archie Weaver, Frank Weaver, and W.B. Weaver, and son, James Monroe Joyner.
Surviving is her daughter, Marjorie Joyner Gardiner and husband, Bunny, of Littleton; daughter-in-law, Joyce Willis Joyner of Roanoke Rapids; brother, DeLeon Weaver and wife, Paulette of Antioch, CA; two sisters, Louise Fowlkes of Rocky Mount, and Shirley Hicks of Goochland County, VA; three grandchildren, Marty Gardiner, Missy Gardiner Weeks and Monray Joyner. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Rev. Henry Stephens and Rev. Stan Lewis will conduct a graveside service in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
The family will be at the home of Marjorie and Bunny Gardiner, 329 Poe Creek Dr., Littleton, NC.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Gaston Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Littleton Volunteer Fire Department.
