Michael Ray Faison, 63, died Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

Sometimes called “The Boxman”, Michael was born in Halifax County, September 27, 1958, son to the late Elmo Faison, Jr. and Annie Louis Shell Faison. Michael was a talented woodworker and cabinet maker and was a huge fan of the North Carolina State University Wolfpack. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his trips to Topsail Beach. When meeting Michael, people always have said that he is such a kind hearted and loving man and that his smile would brighten one’s day. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by a faithful and loyal friend and employee, Dennis Medlin.

Surviving is his wife, Melody Holt Faison; daughters, Megan Rae Faison and significant other, Rezz Winstead and Mandy Rose Faison and significant other, Parker Short; brother, Cecil Faison and wife, Becky; sisters, Vivian Faison Rackley and husband, Houston, and Esther Faison Glasgow and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Lyiah and Mya Williams. Also surviving are nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and numerous cousins. Also surviving is a faithful and loyal friend and employee, Willmon Roberts.

The family will receive friends, two hours prior to graveside service, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Thursday, October 21, 2021, starting at 11:00 am. Rev. Randy Martin will conduct a graveside service in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, immediately following the visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.

CDC recommendations for Covid-19 is asked to be followed during the visitation and graveside service.
