Melinda Willey-Hite

MeLinda Willey-Hite went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

She was born on March 16, in Wilmington, Ohio to the late Edgar and June Willey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her aunt, Shirley Graybill; and dear friends Christine Woodruff and Julia Norris.

MeLinda worked at Weldon City Schools (1980-2001) as a budget analyst/system operator and worked for the City of Roanoke Rapids (2001-2015) as finance director.

Surviving is one niece, Ann Marie Lassiter (Brad); a nephew, Christian of Wilmington, NC; a brother, David Willey (Leah); and a daughter, Daniela of Roanoke Rapids; cousins, Ruth Gretz, Victoria Lambert, Timothy Lambert of Connecticut and Rebecca Willey Payne of Chesapeake, VA and a special couple, Jessica and Eric Russ of Rocky Mount, NC; special family members, Elvia and Billy Williams, Barbara and Richard White, Kenneth, Michele and Ken Updike and Mrs. Vanelle West of Baltimore, MD.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service. The family will have a private graveside with Pastor Mike Little officiating. Burial will be at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
