Mary Millender Underdown

Mary Millender Underdown, 79, died Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

Mary was born September 6, 1939 in Franklin County, Florida, a daughter of Jessie Robert and Catherine Floyd Millender.

She was employed by the US Postal Service for a number of years, and had also worked as a waitress for Horne’s Restaurant.  Mrs. Underdown was a member of The Little Country Church.

Survivors include her son, Robert M. “Mike” Underdown of Littleton; a granddaughter, Tonya Hasty (Chuck) of Halifax; great-grandchildren, Karson, Trey and Macie Hasty; brothers, Larry, Gary and Gordon Millender; sisters, Nita Molsbee and Shirley Massey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband, Jack Underdown; son, Kenny Underdown; and brother, Cliff Millender all preceded Mary in death.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, May 17, 2019 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.

The funeral service for Mrs. Underdown will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the funeral home chapel, with pastors Larry Millender, James Jenkins and Jeremy Kobernat presiding.  Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
