Mary Rue Stansbury Bell

Mary Rue Stansbury Bell, 80, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and

great-grandmother. Mrs. Bell was also a member of Community Center Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents: James Lee and Etta Mae Stansbury; husband: Lee Bell; son David Bell, daughter-in-law: Robin Jones Bell; brothers: Willis, Horace and Alvin Stansbury; sisters: Mae Lynch and Polly Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter: Sylvia Newsom and husband David; sons: James and William Bell; grandchildren: James Bell ll, Stephanie Bell, Crystal Bell, Suzanne Forte and Sam Bell; 4 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Hazel Bell of Roanoke Rapids; sister: Katherine Faison and husband Marlyn of Roanoke Rapids, Lovelle Bell Gray of Roanoke Rapids and Bessie Bennett of Goldsboro; sister-in-laws: Jean Stansbury of Roanoke Rapids, Dorothy Bell Matthews and husband Gerald of Rolesville, NC and Daisy Bell Welch and husband Rob of Charleston, SC; and brother: Roy Stansbury of Roanoke Rapids and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 5, 2009 from 7 8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 2pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with the Rev. C. B. Owens officiating.

Burial will follow in the Community Center Baptist Church Cemetery in Halifax.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rheasville Volunteer Fire Department at 3456 Hwy 158 Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
