Mary Louise Hux Dickens, 87, died Friday March 16th at Guardian Care Nursing Home where she was a resident.

She was born November 30, 1924.At the age of 63 she made a profession of faith and became a member of Rosemary United Methodist Church; since which she has continued a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On February 9th of 1946, Mary was united in marriage to Russell Lee Dickens and to this union was born two children.She was a loving wife of 52 years, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Mary was an avid gardener who loved to raise and preserve her own vegetables and took great pride in keeping a beautifully groomed yard.She also enjoyed music and loved to dance.She was an excellent fisherman and a fabulous cook and will forever be known for her Christmas Fruitcake.Mary was preceded in death by her husband Russell Lee Dickens and is survived by her daughter Ann Eason and husband Billy of Rock Hill, SC, and her son, Wayne Dickens and wife Dawn of Gasburg, VA.She also leaves behind four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

We must no longer think of her in sadness, for God in His wisdom knows best.She set for us an example of courage, for in the last moments of her patient suffering, knowing that death was nigh, she was reconciled to our Fathers Will and with a smile left us to dwell in a fairer land where no partings come, no tears are shed, only peace and happiness.Her family finds great comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with the love her life, Bop and they are happy in Heaven.

Arrangements are being handled by Hockaday Funeral Home.Graveside services will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery on Sunday, March 18th at 2:00 and will be conducted by Rev. James Bell.The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Wayne at 1259 Hammack Road In Gasburg, Virginia.
