Mary Katherine Brown-Peterson

Mary Katherine Newton Brown-Peterson, 65, of Boykins, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at her home. Mrs. Brown-Peterson was born on February 2, 1960, the daughter of Beatrice Harris Newton. She was preceded in death by her brothers Walter “Rooster” Newton, Hugh Morris Newton, and Kevin Scott Newton.

Surviving include her husband Richard Ira Peterson, her children Meghan Marie Smith (Ryan), Ceilidhe Brown-Owens, and Elyse Brown-Roberts (Frank); her brother Billy Newton (Shari), her grandchildren Aine Smith, Asa Smith, Milla Smith, Kahlen Smith, Sidney Smith, Temperance Roberts, Sabastian Brown-Owens, and Brogan Brown-Owens, her great granddaughter Aurella Smith, her niece Ashley Newton Welch (Kenny), her nephew Weston Newton; her great niece Mia Welch, and her great nephew Niko Welch.
