Mary Nell Bennett

Mary Nell Bennett, 76, of Roanoke Rapids passed away August 12, 2024, at ECU North Hospital.

Nell was born February 2, 1948, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to the late Eddie Lee Hall and Mabel Baird Hall. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Bennett and her sister, Jane Jones.

Nell loved to cook, loved gardening and camping with her family at Kerr Lake.

Nell is survived by her husband, Wayne T. Bennett of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter, Katherine Smith and her husband Robert of Roanoke Rapids; her brother, Eddie Lee Hall, Jr. of Lawrenceville, VA; her sisters, Linda Lynch and her husband Marshall of LaCrosse, VA, Dale Bowen of Kenbridge, VA and Debra Hoggard and her husband Junior of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren, Megan Brigman, Dillon Brigman and Garrett Smith and his fiancé Alana and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Good Samaritan Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:20 A.M. at the church prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at LaCrosse Cemetery in LaCrosse, VA.
