Marie Merritt Snipes

Marie Merritt Snipes, 90, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Guardian Care in Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Snipes was a lifelong member of Rosemary Baptist Church and worked for years at Griffin Drug Store, DuPont , Roses and J. P. Stevens.

She was born February 25, 1921, to the late William H. Merritt and Ella Davenport Merritt. Also pre- ceding her in death were her husband, Charles, her sister: Naomi Merritt, and brother: Cleveland Merritt.

She is survived by her son, Mike Snipes and his wife, Ann, of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchild: Timothy Jason Snipes and his wife, Allyson Nichole Snipes, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 1:00 P. M.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 10, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home 319 Washington Street.
