Marie Reid May

Marie Reid May,77, of Bullington Road, Roanoke Rapids passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at her home.

Marie was born December 28, 1940 in Warren County to the late James Howard Reid and Viola Carter Reid. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Howard Reid and James Thomas Reid; three sisters, Marylou Green, Sally Lutz and Marion Stegall; and her granddaughter, Lisa Marie Hale.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, she loved singing in the choir. Marie retired from J.P. Stevens and she enjoyed cooking and shopping.

Marie is survived by her husband, Clarence “Buck” May of the home; her sons, David May of Knightdale, Stephen May and his wife Gladys of Salt Lake City, Utah and Phillip Allen May and his wife Aura of Wendell;  her daughters, Sheila Hale of Raleigh and Susan White and her husband Jerry of Zebulon; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her brothers, John Perry Reid of Henderson and Robert Lee Reid of Littleton; her sisters, Patsy Parker and her husband Preston of New Hill, Ellen Ellis of Roanoke Rapids and Faye Robertson and her husband Jerry of Henderson.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2017 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Roy Porter officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at the home. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
