Marguerite Bryant Wheeler

Marguerite Bryant Wheeler, 85, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Signature Healthcare of Roanoke Rapids.

She was born April 27, 1936 in Middlesex County, VA, the daughter of Arthur William and Mary Garnett Thrift Bryant. Her parents; husband, Gene Wheeler; sons, David, Shane and Keith; grandson, Richard Wheeler; and siblings, AW “Billy” Bryant (wife, Marie), Lillian B. Pearson (husband, Donald), Jesse O. Bryant; and brother-in-law, Ed Payne, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Terry Woodard (Rob Woodard); grandchildren, Bill Wheeler, Kevin Davis, Erica Davis; great-grandchildren, Sky Anne, Richard and Brian Keith Wheeler, Savannah Medlin, Kynleigh Hargrave, Fallyn and Roexie Davis; siblings, Frances B. Ward (Fred), Barbara B. Payne, Henry J. Bryant, Wesley Bryant (Pat), Richard E. Bryant (Sharon); and sister-in-law, Sarah H. Bryant.

Mrs. Wheeler worked at JP Stevens and Roses for many years, and was caretaker for her husband, Gene, until his death.  She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Garden Club of Halifax, and Halifax Baptist Church.

The memorial service for Mrs. Wheeler will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, May 16, 2021 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Tim Jones presiding.  Friends may visit with the family following the service.
