Margaret Long Johnson, 92 0f 713 East 12th Street, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born September 23, 1917 in Northampton County, NC to the late Lee Long and Ruth Maddrey Long. She was a charter member and lifelong member of Park Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for 50 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years: Lewis Dalton Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons: Phillip Johnson and wife Cathy of Roanoke Rapids, Wayne Johnson and wife Trudy of Jeffersonton, VA; grandchildren: Tim Johnson, Jeanette Johnson Rigby, Renee Johnson,Justine Bridges and Chrissy Bridges; great grandchildren: Justice, Charity and Hope Johnson. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Park Baptist Church with Dr. Julian Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Seaboard Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 7-8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Services and other times at the home.
