Mamie Pearson Harris

Mamie Pearson Harris, 89, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Magnolia Gardens in Warrenton.

Mamie was born in Brunswick County, VA July 14, 1923, to the late Rufus Vernon Pearson and Sarah Elizabeth Wright Pearson. She worked as a weaver for J.P. Stevens for many years. She was loved by her family and everyone she met. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Russell Harris; four sisters, and three brothers.

Surviving is her son, Melvin Vernon Harris and wife, Lisa; daughter, Patricia Harris Harlow and husband, Buddy, all of Roanoke Rapids; five grandchildren, Tracy Bowen and husband, Michael, Belinda Bradley and husband, Donald, Shannon Lassiter and husband, Chris, Jessica Baird and husband, Calvin, and Meredith Harris; four step-grandchildren, Lance and Toni Harlow, and Gina and Samantha Massey; nine great-grandchildren, D.J. and William Bradley, Austin and Dalton Lassiter, Haillei, Matthew and Skyler Bowen, Jacob and Summer Baird. Also surviving are six step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, December 21, 2012 from 7-9 pm and all other times at her granddaughter Shannons home at 1401 Georgia Avenue, Roanoke Rapids.

Rev. Dr. Mark Wethington will conduct funeral services in the funeral homes chapel Saturday, December 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm with interment following in Gardners Baptist Church Cemetery, Macon, NC.
