Mabel Ellis Allen

Mabel Ellis Allen, 75 of 133 Buttercup Lane died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Allen was born April 29, 1937 in Northampton County, North Carolina to the late Joe T. Ellis, Sr. and Pauline Cannon Ellis. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers; Joe Tom Ellis, Jr. and Wayne Ellis: three sisters; Lois Faison, Tootsie Allen and Dottie Underwood.

Along with her husband Charles Allen they owned and operated Community Drive-In for 41 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a friend to all who ever met her.

Mabel is survived by her husband of 51 years Charles Allen of the home: daughter; Linda Warren of Roanoke Rapids: sons; Troy Allen and his wife Bethanne of Macon, NC, Bryan Council of Roanoke Rapids: granddaughter; Hannah Grace Allen of Macon, NC: sister; Claudie Spence of Gaston: three nephews; Joe Wayne Ellis of Gaston, Tommy Cannon of Roanoke Rapids and Glen Ferguson of Goldsboro, NC.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Love-Allen Family Cemetery with Rev. Norwood Starling officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30 P.M. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home.
